Frequently asked questions
Prepare for your first visit by familiarizing yourself with the answers to some common questions.
No referral necessary.
When calling CBT Professionals, you will speak with Dr. Velyvis or a member of the intake team who will be ready to answer any questions you may have. This person will conduct a brief intake session with you to determine the best person to provide services.
Your first appointment will be an introduction to your clinician and will include a comprehensive assessment/ diagnostic tool in the form of an interview. You are your clinician will discuss what you would like to focus on, and your ongoing treatment plan. The life history questionnaire will be given to you before your first visit and be incorporated into your diagnostic assessment and treatment plan.
In special cases your clinician may consider video sessions using a program called Vsee, which is similar to Skype, only more secure. We do emphasize that the preferred meeting format is face-to-face, in person as there are many treatment benefits to sharing physical space.
Evening and weekend appointments are offered on specific dates, at specific locations. Please discuss this with your treatment provider when scheduling your first meeting.
Unfortunately, OHIP does not cover private practices at this time. Most insurance companies will cover a certain percentage of treatment costs for a clinical psychologist or a psychotherapist under supervision of a clinical psychologist.
Please check with your insurance provider before booking your first appointment. We do not offer direct billing at this time.
